Serra Cafema—Day Nine

This has been the most relaxing location so far! Despite Chris’ attempts to leave “on time” – everyone is dawdling today. There is something about being this far off the beaten path, near water and totally unplugged that is just so good for us. I feel completely recharged and not quite ready to go. Today we must say goodbye to Namibia. We have seen some exotic animals and great scenery and made some new friends. There is a definite attraction to this land, and already we are planning where we want to visit next. We’ve explored the southern end of the continent, now Namibia; maybe it is time to go east and see Kenya.

We have five flights ahead of us to get back home. From the time we leave Serra Cafema and arrive in San Diego we will have traveled for a straight 35 hours! We had plenty of reading and movie watching to keep us entertained on the way home. Scott was really happy with his new Kindle. I was a little jealous of how little he had in his carry one (I had two paperbacks and four magazines to read on the way home).

The shots below are from the ride to the Serra Cafema airstrip and the flights to Wyndhook. We had to stop in Palmwag for fuel, but there was no time for sightseeing this go round. The view from the smaller planes is just spectacular and one last chance to absorb the beauty of the land. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and love of Africa with us. I’m sure that we all will be back.
